Percussionist JOSH PERRY is a passionate advocate for contemporary music and interdisciplinary performance mediums. Acclaimed by The New York Times as a “ creative percussionist,” he is a core member of Iktus Percussion, a collective-based new music group in NYC. A proponent for composer-performer collaboration, he consistently works with living composers and has premiered multiple new works for percussion and mixed ensemble. He has recently been heard at performance venues including Carnegie Hall, Issue Project Room, Galapagos Art Space, Trinity Church, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, Roulette, and Lincoln Center. Perry has performed at the Bang on a Can Marathon and the Festival Internacional de Inverno de Campos do Jordao in Brazil. With interests in interdisciplinary art collaborations, he has performed with a variety of artists including dancers, videographers, dramaturges, air-guitarists, actors, movement specialists, and playwrights. With Iktus, he has performed and given workshops at Eastman School of Music, Stony Brook University, CUNY-Queens College, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Oberlin College. He earned his B.M. from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst under the instruction of Ayano Kataoka and Thomas Hannum. He received his M.M. and completed his D.M.A at Stony Brook University, where he studied with Eduardo Leandro.
